‘I hope the animal who stabbed my mum rots in prison’

THE daughter of a woman who ‘had her throat slit’ on Boxing Day hopes her ex-husband rots in prison after pleading guilty to attempted murder.

Clive Harris, of Castle Street, Evesham, launched the horrific attack on his ex-wife during which he stabbed her multiple times in December last year.

Harris, appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Monday (April 13) where he pleaded guilty to trying to kill Linda Harris.

Speaking to the Evesham Journal, Mrs Harris’s daughter, said her mother was “very, very, very lucky to be alive” having suffered multiple stab wounds to her chest, hands and arms during the attack inside her home.

Harris had followed his ex-wife home after the pair bumped into each other at the Ambassador Club earlier in the evening.

The grandmother of four, who was found ‘absolutely covered in blood’ by her daughter, spent eight hours in surgery following the attack in which ‘her neck was sown back together, and her thumb was sown back on’.

Katie Louise Armento, Linda’s daughter, said: “Clive is Linda’s ex-husband, and they were together for 14 years. He had been abusive to her for many years.

“Mum had been out with her friends in Evesham and had a few drinks, and she bumped into Clive in the Ambassador Club. Something was said, and she’s basically just said ‘leave me alone’. She walked home back to her flat at Bewdley Street, and without her knowing, he has followed her home. He got into the building, went into her flat, went to her block of knives and said, ‘I’m going to kill you now’ and started attacking her with this ten-inch blade.

“He stabbed my mum three times in the chest. She also had defensive wounds. She’s got a big, big scar, it’s got to be 12 inches long on her left arm. Two of her fingers have basically been paralysed; they are not moving really.

“Then she remembers waking up, and he bent her over the sofa, pulled her head back and slit her throat from front to back. My mum is lucky to be alive. I don’t know how she is alive, to be honest. She said she pleaded with him to stop.”

During the attack, the 64-year-old managed to call her daughter to say ‘he’s stabbed me’, and she alerted police.

Ms Armento added: “When I arrived, he was in the top window waiting. He walked down, casual as anything, washed himself, put his coat on, walked to the bottom of the stairs, and I ran up, and I was the one who found my mother covered, and I mean covered head to toe in blood. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life.

“Linda is still in recovery. She has really bad PTSD, she’s going to a psychiatrist at the moment. She has flashbacks. She sees him. She’s not the same person anymore. What he has done to her is absolutely unbelievable. She put up one hell of a fight for an old lady.

“It’s a relief that he has pleaded guilty. She’s very, very very lucky to be alive. The impact of what he has done. Our mother isn’t the same any more. She’s scared, she’s frightened, she’s jumpy. He’s put her through so much in those years of being together.

“I’m hoping he gets more of a sentence than what he put my mum through for the last 14 years. To be honest, I hope he rots in prison and never sees the light of day again because he is an absolute animal.”

Harris was remanded into custody to appear back in court for sentencing on Monday, June 22, 2026.
