TWO people have been charged with the murder of a 21-month-old boy who has a connection to Droitwich.

A man and woman have both been charged with the murder of Tobias-John Doyle, a boy who used to live in Droitwich, and with causing or allowing the death of a child and with child cruelty.

Omiel Gordon, of Butterwick Drive in Leicester, and Shalom Morgan, of Morledge Street in Leicester, were first arrested in November 2023 after Tobias was admitted to hospital.

Police were contacted by East Midlands Ambulance Service on November 29, 2023, who were in attendance at an address in Mulberry Avenue, Leicester.

Tobias was taken to hospital from Mulberry Avenue but later died on December 2, 2023.

A complex investigation has since been carried out.

Throughout the investigation, family liaison officers have and continue to provide support to the father of Tobias, Simon Doyle, who is from Droitwich.

Mr Doyle said: “Tobias was my best friend.

“He was a giggly, happy little boy who put a smile on everyone’s face.

“He had the most beautiful chubby cheeks and curly hair and he absolutely loved dinosaurs.

“We love him and miss him so much.”

Gordon and Morgan were charged this morning (Monday) and are due to appear at Leicester Magistrates Court today.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Kevin Hames said: “My thoughts very much remain with Tobias and everyone who is affected by his extremely sad death.

“I am aware of the impact this news today will have in the community and we will have officers in the areas affected to help in offering reassurance to you – please do speak with them if you have any concerns.

“This is a complex investigation and I do want to thank those who have provided support during this time.

“As court proceedings are now active, we do ask that people do not speculate and take care with any publication made so as to not prejudice these court proceedings. Thank you.”
