Brazen thieves grab mobile phones out of glass cabinet then stroll out of shop

A SHOP owner has been left shaken by brazen thieves who stole £2,000 worth of mobile phones from his city centre store in broad daylight.

Four men walked into Fone Emporium in The Shambles then grabbed four mobile phones from a glass cabinet before strolling out of the shop.

Aman Singh, who relies on the business to provide a stable income for his family, said Monday’s incident has affected him badly.

An eyewitness said the thieves had tried to target multiple phone businesses on The Shambles before finally successfully stealing items from Fone Emporium.

“It is very sad to see small businesses being targeted as the phone business doesn’t have a lot of profit as it is,” said Mr Singh.

“Worcester is an amazing city, and we travel all the way from Birmingham every day to be part of the community.

“It has affected me very badly as I have spent so many years building the business and creating a stable income for my family. ”

He added that the theft, which took place at 3pm, was a major loss for the business because mobile phones are expensive.

Mr Singh opened the mobile phone shop in Worcester in 2019 but revealed this is not the first time an incident like this has happened.

“A few months ago, we were showing a customer a phone on the counter and he then ran away with it,” he added.

“We never expected this to happen again.

“I have always been friendly with all customers, and the business prides itself on going that extra mile, especially for the older generation who struggle with using phones.”

Mr Singh said he has reported the incident to West Mercia Police but no officers have been in touch with the shop.

A police spokesperson said it is aware of businesses being broken into on The Shambles and items of technology, including mobile phones, were reported stolen.

“Enquiries into these burglaries are ongoing,” it added.
