Service station and drive-thru planned on outskirts of Worcester

A SERVICE station has been proposed for the outskirts of Worcester.

The plans submitted to Wychavon District Council are one of two plans proposed for Pershore Road for a large complex just off M5 junction 7 (Worcester South).

The land, equivalent to around 11 full-size football pitches, could be turned into a large business park spanning multiple industrial units.

But another plan for the same site includes a drive-through, an eatery, and a petrol station to serve the day-to-day convenience needs of employees working at the site, visitors, and those using the nearby highway.

The land in Whittington, around 16.5 acres, will see developer, Trustees of Berkeley Settlement and Hallam Land, hope to demolish several buildings to make way for the project which will form part of the Wychavon Town project.

A new roundabout will be installed just off junction 7 on Pershore Road to provide access to the site and new walking and cycling routes in the area.

The application was submitted to Wychavon District Council on May 7, suggesting proposals focus on delivering high-quality employment space that capitalises on the site’s proximity to various transport networks, such as the M5 and Worcestershire Parkway.

On the proposed plans, a spokesperson said: “Hallam Land is bringing forward proposals for a new employment development that will form part of the mixed-use Harkaway neighbourhood, integrated within the proposed Wychavon Town new settlement.

“The site will deliver up to 720,000 square feet of employment buildings and has been planned as an integral component of the wider masterplan package being progressed in parallel.

“The proposal includes an option to deliver commercial uses south of Pershore Road, including a fuel station with E charging, to serve the employment area.”

The new roundabout, which will provide access to the site via Pershore Road, will serve as the site’s primary street and connect the units.
