A POST office and convenience store has closed after bailiffs were called to the business.
Shutters remain closed at Callow End Post Office and Premier Convenience Store following the repossession of the property by its landlord.
West Country Bailiffs, acting on behalf of the landlord of the property, revealed that the site on Upton Road was taken into the landlord’s possession by peaceable re-entry.
A sign written by West Country Bailiffs on the premises noticeboard reads: “These premises have this day been taken into possession of the landlord by peaceable re-entry.

“The landlord is entitled to take possession under the terms of the lease and has now exercised their right.
“The lease has therefore been determined with immediate effect.
“Any person entering the property without the express consent of the landlord, or their agents will be regarded as a trespasser and may be liable to civil and/or criminal proceedings being brought against them.
“All communication in the first instance should be directed to the landlord’s agent, West Country Bailiffs.”

The letter was posted on May 8 at around 6am.
A notice imposing an obligation to collect goods has also been submitted, stating that, under the lease ending on May 8, any items left by tenants in the building must be collected within seven days.
The goods have been left “secured” at the property by the involuntary bailee which will be either the landlord or its agent West Country Bailiffs.
If the goods are not collected within the seven-day period, the bailee intends to dispose of the goods, with the costs of any disposal or sale to be deducted from any sum accrued as a result.
Councillor Tom Wells has been liaising with residents, landlords and tenants to find a solution to the closure.
“Residents in the village were really concerned and disappointed to see the village store and post office close,” he said.
“As always in such circumstances, I am doing all I can to get the store reopened and have been in contact with its previous owners.
“I am hopeful of a positive outcome, which may include the landlords of nearly 20 years returning as short-term measures before a long-term solution is found.”
A spokesperson for Post Office said its Callow End branch has been temporarily closed since December for operational reasons.
“A review of Post Office provision is being reviewed,” it added.
“Alternative branches include St Johns, Broomhall and Cherry Orchard in Worcester.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused to customers.”
It is not yet known when the Post Office and Premier convenience store will reopen.
Worcester News has contacted Premier for comment.
