IT is not often that the roar of a gushing waterfall greets you before the view does let alone it being just a day trip from Worcestershire.
The county is full to the brim with hidden gems and even its own tiny secret waterfall – but nothing will compare to the day trip we experienced at Gyfarllwyd Falls or known as Devil’s Bridge Falls.
Nestled in Pontarfynach in Wales is a gushing waterfall that plunges off a 300ft drop into a scenic gorge.

It is a perfect 45-minute walk for those looking for a cooling woodland route that offers various viewpoints of the scenery and allows visitors to get almost within reach of the waterfall.

But the walk also offers visitors a chance to view the Gyfarllywd Falls on the River Rheidol, to step along rugged stone steps, to cross a fairytale-style arch bridge, and to explore a former robbers’ cave.
The falls themselves can be accessed via Devil’s Bridge, another landmark at the falls, allegedly built in the eleventh century by the devil, according to legend.

The bridge is peculiarly composed of three bridges, each designed for the century in which it was built, and can still be walked across.
Gyfarllwyd Falls and Devil’s Bridge is about a two hours drive from Worcester and the trip was completed in a day.
Walkers can also enjoy a cup of tea and local ice cream at Woodlands Tearooms, or a pint and a meal at Hafod Hotel.
