Residents are being invited to take part in a new pilot project aimed at reshaping political conversation.
The initiative is being piloted in Worcester through a partnership between Worcester’s MP Tom Collins and cross-party think tank Demos.
It will involve two small-group discussions in Worcester city centre to explore how people from all backgrounds can live together, what this means for the city’s future, and how to make it a better place to live.
Tom Collins MP said: “Too often, important issues feel impossible to discuss without arguments or division.
“Many people switch off from politics altogether, leaving decisions to a few loud voices.
“Working with Demos, we want to test whether there’s a better way.
“If we can bring people together, listen properly, and find common ground, we can build trust and make politics work better for everyone.”
The sessions focus on listening, understanding different perspectives, and identifying practical steps that residents and their MP can take together.
To take part, complete the form at https://forms.gle/vU4YEUY7q9tTDPY69 by midnight on June 7.
Mr Collins said: “It’ll be a new experience, but I’m up for it, and I hope people in Worcester who would not normally get involved might give it a try too.
“Trust begins by meeting, and is built through real conversations.
“If we can practice disagreeing better here in Worcester, we might even manage to set a new standard for politics across the country.
“I’m looking forward to listening, learning, and building something positive with other residents in Worcester.”
Demos is seeking participants of all ages and backgrounds, especially those who do not typically engage with politics.
Each session will last two to three hours, be professionally facilitated, and take place in June and early July in Worcester city centre.
Participants will be paid for their time.
