Over 1,100 visitors turn out for college summer festival

More than 1,100 visitors turned out for a day of celebration, creativity, and interactive learning.

Designed as a celebration of the local area, Pershore College’s Summer Fest took place on Saturday, June 13, transforming the campus into a lively community event with family-friendly activities with a focus on hands-on experiences.

Interactive hubs encouraged participation from all ages, including construction challenges and motor vehicle demonstrations.

Kate Hartshorn, campus principal at Pershore College, said: “Summer Fest is entirely about opening our gates and giving back to the incredible community that surrounds us.

“To see over 1,100 of our neighbours laughing, learning, and enjoying the sunshine together on our campus was absolutely wonderful.

“Events like this remind us how vibrant and connected the Pershore community truly is, and we are so grateful to everyone who came out to make it such a memorable success.”

Nature, crafts, and food were central to the day’s activities.

Dog owners entered their pets in a fiercely contested, light-hearted competition, while children enjoyed animal encounters at the college’s animal centre.

For those seeking fresh-air spectacles, the arboriculture team impressed crowds with live tree management and climbing displays high above the ground.

Garden lovers found plenty of green-fingered inspiration throughout the day, starting with a well-attended presentation titled Classy Plants for Classy Gardeners by expert Josh Egan-Wyer while visitors also explored a maze trail in the college’s learning foundation garden.

The day also included plant sales from the student-led unit and educational talks for youngsters on beekeeping.

Refreshments featured cider and juices from Pershore Press and offerings from regional food and drink vendors.

The festival successfully blended future technology with traditional local charm.

Visitors explored creative talent in the art gallery and enjoyed hair and beauty treatments in college salons.

The community also rallied behind independent regional business owners by creating a bustling trade for the selection of local craft makers selling their unique wares on stalls across the site, while the Brew & Bloom Café served as a lively social hub all day long.

Organisers have confirmed that following the overwhelming turnout, Summer Fest will return on Saturday, June 12, 2027, with plans already underway to expand the festival and offer new activities.
