The number of new micro-charities in Worcestershire has risen by 60 per cent in a year.
New analysis by Ansvar Insurance, which specialises in the charity and not-for-profit sector, highlights a surge in these small organisations, which have an annual income of less than £25,000, outpacing the national average.
Worcestershire now has 1,135 registered micro-charities, with 48 registered in 2025 alone.
This growth, surpassing the national year-on-year rise of 22 per cent, reflects a growing community spirit, according to Adam Tier, head of underwriting at Ansvar.
He said: “Micro-charities may be small in terms of income, but their contribution to society is often far greater than their size suggests.
“Across the county, these organisations support a wide range of causes and play an important role in local communities.”
Despite their limited income, micro-charities deal with challenges similar to larger organisations, often managed by a small team.
Awareness of these challenges, including governance and trustee responsibilities, cyber security, and operational resilience, is crucial for their continued service delivery.
Mr Tier added: “By building strong foundations early on, micro-charities can put themselves in the best position to continue supporting their communities for years to come.”
