Grade II listed restaurant and hotel for sale as long serving landlord leaves

A GRADE II listed pub and hotel is up for sale ahead of the retirement of a long-serving landlord.

The Crown and Sandys, on Main Road in Ombersley, is looking for a new leaseholder after the current landlord decided to retire.

The pub, which has six en-suite rooms, a restaurant, a bar, and two function spaces, including an orangery licensed for weddings of up to 140 guests, has been listed via Savills.

The venue remains open and no leaving date has yet been revealed.

No listing price has been publicly announced.

The restaurant and bar have more than 86 seats, while the pub also has an external seating area that can accommodate more than 100 people.

The pub sits on a site that extends to two acres, including a large paddock at the back and a car park with 60 spaces.

The building dates back to the 16th and 17th centuries.

The current landlord has operated the pub for 16 years and is set to retire in early 2027.

The business serves food and drinks throughout the day and offers bed-and-breakfast accommodation.

The pub also has a well-established reputation for hosting weddings and events.

The pub’s sales are split 60 per cent food, 30 per cent drink, and 10 per cent rooms.

The new leaseholder would take on a new leasehold agreement and offers are being invited.

The Crown and Sandys is located in the historic village of Ombersley, 4.8 miles west of Droitwich Spa, six miles north of Worcester, and 26 miles south-east of Birmingham.

It is at the entrance to the village from the A449.

The pub is part of the Ombersley Conservation Area.

It has a premises licence that permits the sale of alcohol from 10am until midnight from Sunday to Thursday, and until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.

It also has a civil wedding licence.

The building also has a traditional pub and restaurant area with a bar, a flagstone floor, a beamed ceiling, and a feature fireplace.

The first floor has six en-suite bedrooms, four of which are standard doubles, plus a bridal suite with an adjoining double room.

The basement is home to a thermostatically controlled beer cellar and storage.
