ALMOST £2.5 million has been spent on uniform for by West Mercia Police in the last three years.
Between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2026, West Mercia Police spent £2,498,673 on uniforms for its officers and staff, a Freedom of Information request has shown.
Of the money spent, 99.4 per cent (£2,484,804) was used to fund uniforms, while the remaining 0.6 per cent (£13,869) was for badges and insignia.
Across the three counties, West Mercia Police employs 4,428 police officers and staff.
This means around £188 is spent on average on uniform per employee each year.

The FOI also detailed what happens to uniform when they become unusable.
A spokesperson said: “All uniform that is no longer serviceable is either recycled or sent to a facility where waste is turned into energy.”
