HUNDREDS of motorbikes are set to ride through Worcestershire in memory of a “key member” of the motorcycle community.
It is hoped that nearly 300 motorbikes will rev through Worcestershire and end at the Drum and Monkey’s in Upton in memory of Paul Harker.
The 67-year-old was well known for owning the Drum and Monkey’s, owning a bike shop in the area, and hosting firework displays in the town.

Kyle Court, who is organising the event in Mr Harker’s memory, has known the bike mechanic all his life.
“You would not walk into Upton High Street, and there would be no one who did not know Paul Harker – he was a key character,” he said.
“He was a proper member of a small community.
“For the motorcycle community, he was a key part across the UK.

“He was warm and bubbly and would whistle everywhere.
“He was so kind-hearted and knew everything there was to know about an engine.”
Mr Court said people from Manchester and beyond would visit his bike shop, Paul Harker Motors, for parts and to have their vehicles fixed.

The goal for the event on July 11 is to make the ride-out as big as possible and Mr Court has invited the bike community from across the UK to take part.
All funds from the bike ride, which will begin at Oldbury Road Car Park in Tewksbury and finish at the Drum and Monkey’s in Upton.
Riders have been encouraged to arrive at Oldbury Road Car Park by 12pm for a 1pm set-off.
All funds from the ride-out will go towards the charity Worcestershire Cancer Care.
“Over his 60 to 70 years in Upton, he has made a real impact on the community, and when he was dying of cancer, he put loads of money into the charity Worcestershire Cancer Care,” Mr Court added.
“We want to do this in his memory, so his name doesn’t die.”
