A FAST food chain is offering free coffee as a “pick-me-up” after England’s World Cup loss in the semi-final match against Argentina.
After a disappointing result for football fans around the country, with a 2-1 victory for Argentina, Popeyes said “literally everyone” will be able to pick up a free coffee to commiserate.
With the World Cup final to take place on Sunday night (July 19), the fast food chain, which has a branch on Worcester High Street, said customers can take advantage of the offer on Monday morning (July 20).

How to claim a free coffee
To claim the offer, customers will need to visit a Popeyes site and enter code WAKEMEUP into a self-service kiosk before 12pm on Monday.
“It’s fair to say this wasn’t the ending many fans had been hoping for, but the summer’s biggest sporting event still has one last chapter to write,” said Popeyes UK CEO Tom Crowley.
“After weeks of late nights, edge-of-your-seat moments and passionate support, we thought the nation deserved a little pick-me-up on Monday.
“With the final taking place in the USA, we wanted to share some Southern generosity.
“Whether you’ll be tuning in on Sunday night or simply need help kick-starting the week, your coffee is on us.”
