A POPULAR tea room where playtime and pastries go hand-in-hand is up for sale.
Auntie Em’s Tea Room and Play Village, located off the high street between Clarks Shoes and Waterstones in the city arcade, has been listed for sale on the site businessesforsale.com.
The tea room is on the market for £99,999, with the listing stating it has generated a turnover of £139,616 in the most recent financial year. The adjusted net profit is approximately £32,000.

The business features both indoor and outdoor seating, with around 50 covers, and includes a play area for children and a ‘Role Play Village’ that has contributed to its popularity among families.
Established in 2019, the listing states the tea room has an “outstanding reputation and enjoys a loyal customer base, strong social media presence and multiple revenue streams.”
It adds: “This is an outstanding opportunity to acquire a profitable, well-established lifestyle business with an excellent reputation, loyal clientele and genuine scope for future expansion.”

We reported two months ago that the tea room had taken measured of reducing its opening hours, citing severe commercial pressures on the hospitality industry.
At the time, Co-owner Emma Moule told Worcester News: “This has honestly been one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever had to make. Auntie Em’s isn’t just a business to us, it’s a huge part of our lives and something we’ve poured our hearts into.
“Rising energy bills, increasing ingredient costs, and the recent minimum wage increases have all had a significant impact on a small business like ours.
“At the same time, we completely understand that our customers are also feeling the squeeze and having to cut back.
“We’ve gone from being open seven days a week down to four, and this is really about trying to find a way to keep going.
“It’s not a decision we’ve taken lightly — it’s us trying to adapt, reduce costs where we can, and see if we can make things sustainable enough to survive.”

The listing highlights one of its biggest attractions – the Role Play Village, which opened two years ago. Here, children can step into different roles, including working in a salon, veterinary practice, café, grocery store and campsite, as well as enjoying a family home with a garden, BBQ and picnic area, and a builders’ dress-up station.
The business is represented by Cogogo.
It currently operates on reduced hours, owing to the owner’s personal circumstances.
However, the listing adds that additional revenue could be earned by returning to seven days of trading per week.
The tea room has also recently launched a takeaway service on Just Eat.

The listing states: “With longer opening hours, additional trading days, expanded takeaway marketing and further party bookings, there remains significant potential to increase turnover.”
When open seven days a week, the business previously generated approximately £145,000 in turnover.
