A student has turned a corner in his maths learning with the help of personalised tuition.
Seth, aged 11, from Droitwich, began attending Mathnasium in Worcester in spring 2025 after finding maths increasingly challenging, particularly fractions.
With two sessions of tailored tuition each week, his confidence and understanding quickly improved.
Laura Albelli, director of Mathnasium Worcester, said: “Seth joined Mathnasium Worcester in the spring of 2025, aged 10 and in Year 5.
“Since starting middle school, like many pupils, he had begun to find maths increasingly difficult, particularly fractions.
“We worked with Seth to create a tailored learning plan designed to identify and close gaps in his knowledge.
“Seth then attended sessions twice per week and received personalised tuition to suit his individual needs.”
Just weeks after starting at Mathnasium, Seth’s progress was already being noticed at school.
His mother said: “Within the first few weeks we had a phone call from his school teacher to say she’d really noticed a difference in his confidence.
“He no longer hates his maths lessons.
“He’s going into school much more enthusiastically and has a better relationship with his teachers.
“His predicted SATs scores have increased and overall his confidence has grown massively.”
Seth has continued to make progress, recently achieving 107 in his maths SATs – above the expected standard of 100 (110 is greater depth).
His mother said: “He’s so happy and we’re so proud of him.
“Mathnasium has been the best decision we’ve ever made.
“I would say absolutely give it a go, even just to try the assessment and see where the gaps are.
“Everybody here has been really supportive and built up his self-confidence.”
Mathnasium uses programmes built around the Mathnasium Method, which focuses on deep understanding rather than memorisation.
