The most popular baby names for newborns in Worcester have been revealed.
Every year, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) announces which names have risen and dropped in popularity, with the 2025 data being released earlier this month.
The names chosen by parents are influenced by many things: culture, religion, heritage and location being among them.
However, several names often rise above the rest as the most common, whether it is on a national scale or in a specific region.
This year, ONS has revealed which names stand out as the most popular with Worcestershire’s six local authorities showing off vastly different results.
The most popular girls’ name in Worcester
The most popular name for girls in Worcester in 2025 was Willow, with seven babies receiving the name.
Willow has taken the top spot from Poppy,
Across the England and Wales, Willow was the 20th most popular name of the year.

The most popular boys’ name in Worcester
Theodore was the most popular name for babies in Worcester last year with 10 babies, replacing Oliver from 2024.
Theodore is the ninth most popular name for babies born last year across the England and Wales, with 2,638 babies around the country

What names were popular around Worcestershire?
The most popular names around Worcestershire are also quite varied.
In the Malverns Hills, Archie and Theodore share the boys’ top spot with seven babies each, while Ivy is the number one for the girls, also with seven babies.
In Wychavon Oscar is the most popular boys’ name with 14 babies, while Lily is the favourite for the girls with 10 babies sharing the name last year.
In Bromsgrove, boys are most likely to be called Leo and Theo (nine) while girls are most likely to be called Bonnie, Isla, or Simona (seven).
In Redditch, the most popular boys’ names are Alfie, George, Noah, and Theodore (nine) and girls’ is Maisie (seven).
Lastly, the Wyre Forest’s favourite names are Noah (13) and Olivia (eight) for boys and girls respectively.
