A popular garden centre that offers ‘consistent quality’ plants at ‘good prices’ has no plans to change after celebrating its 45th anniversary.
Cooks Garden Centre, which is owned by Paul Cook, celebrated four-and-a-half decades in business on Tuesday (July 21) after opening in 1981.
Based on Worcester Road, in Stourport, for the past 45 years, it has taken pride in being a family-run and award-winning garden centre and florist.
These awards include gold medals earned at Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) across the country, where the garden centre is well-known for its range of hydrangeas and herbaceous perennials that are grown in its nursery.
Hannah Cook is Paul’s daughter, and after the garden centre celebrated its momentous anniversary, she expressed her pride in the business’s longevity and thanked ‘loyal’ staff and customers.
“Looking at what the business is now compared to what it was when Paul started it, it’s a great achievement to grow it to where it is today,” Hannah said.
“We’re proud of still being here after 45 years and for navigating the challenging times that all businesses have faced.
“We couldn’t have done this without our incredibly loyal staff, customers, and everyone we’ve dragged in along the way.”
“Paul has also raised thousands of pounds for charity; he has donated Christmas trees to the town council and local schools, so we have always tried to give back as much as we get from the community.”
Hannah also shared her belief that it is Cooks Garden Centre’s consistent quality that has made it a local stalwart over the past 45 years.
She said: “I would say delivering consistent quality plants at good prices is what has kept us going and kept us popular.
“We have no plans to change what we are doing any time soon.”
