A man has avoided an immediate stint in prison after admitting to possessing an axe in public and causing criminal damage to a car.
James Perrins, 40, of Green Street, Kempsey, appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Friday (July 24) where he was sentenced for one count of criminal damage and one count of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
Perrins had admitted to damaging a KIA Sorento on January 21, 2025, and to possessing an axe on Green Street, Kempsey, one day later, at a previous plea hearing in September 2025
Perrins was handed a 16-month custodial sentence, suspended for two years, and ordered to complete up to 20 days of rehabilitation activities.
He must also pay £150 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a victim surcharge of £187.
