DETECTIVES who are still investigating the disappearance of an estate agent say they remain “haunted” by the case as the 40th anniversary passes.
Suzy Lamplugh was declared dead and presumed murdered after going missing in July 1986.
The 25-year-old’s case is set to be mothballed in 12 months’ time with no trace of Miss Lamplugh being discovered.

The case has connections to Worcestershire, where specialist searches were carried out on land between Pershore and Drakes Broughton in 2010 and again near Drakes Broughton in 2019.

Now, Metropolitan Police cold case officers say their priority remains finding her, even as the inquiry is due to enter an inactive phase within the next year.

Miss Lamplugh vanished after leaving a property appointment in Fulham, west London, on 28 July 1986.
Police have been searching for Miss Lamplugh.
Detective Chief Inspector Teresa Foster said: “The most important thing is finding Suzy and bringing Suzy home.”
Police believe future advances in forensic science and artificial intelligence, or fresh information from members of the public, could still provide the breakthrough detectives have sought for four decades.
