THE kind-hearted people of the city have dug deep to buy a ‘wonderful’ carer a new electric bike after the last one was stolen.
The community has rallied to raise more than £1,400 to replace a stolen e-bike belonging to carer Lidhia O’Mahony who says she is ‘so happy’ for the support,
She has found people’s support ‘overwhelming’ and has already ordered a new bike to replace the one that was stolen from a public rack outside Lloyds Bank at The Cross in Worcester thanks to the support.
A GoFundMe fundraising page was set up by Clare Boniface after the 68-year-old’s e-bike was stolen from a public rack outside Lloyds Bank at The Cross in Worcester.
Ms O’Mahony lives in St Peter’s and works at The Lawns Nursing Home in Kempsey.
Ms Boniface said: “Lidhia relies on her electric bike to get to and from her shifts as a carer.
“Having it stolen has left her shocked, upset, and without the transport she depends on.
“I honestly don’t have the words to express how overwhelmed and humbled I am by what has happened over the past 24 hours.
“A staggering £1,427.00 has been donated to bless Lidhia.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you to every single person who donated, shared the fundraiser, encouraged others to give, sent messages, or simply helped spread the word.

“I absolutely love how our community has come together to mightily bless this wonderful lady beyond all measure. This has been so much more than raising money for a bike.
“It has been about kindness, generosity, community, and showing someone just how loved and valued they are.
“I cannot wait to see Lidhia mobile again on her brand-new electric bike — even better than the one that was stolen.”
The initial fundraising target was £1,200, but donations quickly exceeded this.
After subtracting a transaction fee of £55.76, a total of £1,371.24 will be given to Ms O’Mahony for a replacement bike and a secure lock.
Any additional funds will go towards insurance, maintenance, and other cycling expenses.
Ms Boniface said: “The GoFundMe will now be closed, and I am so grateful to every one of you who has been part of this very special moment.
“May God richly bless every single person who gave, shared, and supported Lidhia.
“I pray that the kindness you have shown comes back to you many times over.”
West Mercia Police are continuing to investigate the theft.
A police spokesperson said: “We received a report on Wednesday, July 29 of the theft of a bike on The Cross in Worcester.
“Inquiries are ongoing.”
