New convenience store stocking vapes and snacks to open in former patisserie

A NEW corner shop is set to open in Worcester city centre at a location which has stood empty for years.

Signs have appeared in 2 All Saints Road, at the corner of Broad Street, advertising the opening of the convenience store Newsagents

Shahram Ahmadi, manager of the Newsagents, has experience running similar stores in Worcestershire and Birmingham.

He said: “We have a few days until we are open, we should be open by this weekend.

“We will be stocking everything – vapes, American drinks, sweets, crisps and other stuff.”

With plentiful competition from similar stores in the city centre, including The Town and Trio on Broad Street alone, Mr Ahmadi has made clear there are no expectations for the store to be bringing in swathes of customers from day one.

“It is unclear how popular we will be. We have to see how the customers feel.

“We cannot tell what it’s going to be like because it is not open yet.”

2 All Saints Road has been home to a variety of businesses over the last two decades.

It was most recently the home of Bon Sucree, a patisserie which shut in November 2022, around six months after opening due to rising operational costs which made staying open unsustainable.

Before that, it was Greek restaurant YamasS, Moroccan tapas bar The Asilah Lounge, and Nino’s Italian restaurant.

Until the mid-2010s, 2 All Saints Road, 4 All Saints Road, now Nurse Charlotte’s, and 36 Broad Street, now Island, were also one large space used by the restaurants.
