A MAN who preyed on a teenage girl by using Snapchat to contact her before sexually abusing her over the course of several months has been jailed.
35-year-old Liam Bunton was convicted after admitting to two counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15 between June 2018 and January 2019.
Bunton, of Ransom Avenue, Worcester, first contacted the victim using Snapchat when he was 27.
His crimes quickly developed into repeatedly sexually abusing the girl.
After the offences were reported to the police in 2025, Bunton was arrested, but answered every question put to him in a police interview with ‘no comment’.
He was charged with the two offences in December 2025, before admitting to the offences in court in May.
On Friday (August 21), Judge Nicholas Cartwright handed Bunton a four-year prison sentence for each offence, which will be served concurrently.

Detective Sergeant Callum Godwin, of Reactive CID, said: “We are pleased to get a custodial term for Bunton who preyed on an underage girl after initially contacting her on Snapchat.
“We hope this result shows predators like him will be brought to justice for their offences, even if they are non-recent ones.
“We hope this court result will encourage others to come forward and report sexual offences, no matter when they occurred.
“We will always listen to you, take you seriously, and take action where appropriate.”

Alongside his time behind bars, he was also handed a restraining order which prevents him from contacting the victim of his crimes for the next 12 years, and he will need to register with police indefinitely.
