Joy as five half-wild rabbit siblings find forever home after being taken in by RSPCA

A family of half-wild rabbit siblings has found a new beginning after spending months in the care of the RSPCA

Fern, Fig, Raddish, Cactus, and Orchid were taken in by the RSPCA Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire branch after their mother was discovered abandoned in a field.

The rabbits, who had one domesticated parent and one wild parent, hence the name half-wild, spent their first year growing up under the stewardship of the charity.

In July, the RSPCA announced they were looking to find a forever home for the siblings.

Within just a few weeks, a home had been found and the five rabbits were on their way.

An RSPCA spokesperson said: “Our wonderful half-wild rabbit family have finally found their forever home, and today all five are heading off together to begin their exciting new chapter.

“These beautiful rabbits were born in our care over a year ago, and we’ve had the privilege of watching them grow from tiny babies into the wonderful characters they are today.

“From the very beginning, we’ve hoped to find them a home where they could stay together as a family, and today that dream has come true.”

Because of their mix of domestic and wild genetics, half-wild rabbits can be particularly difficult.

They are not wild enough to handle living in there, but they are too wild to live in a standard home.

The spokesperson said: “Finding the perfect home for half-wild rabbits isn’t easy, so we’ve patiently waited for the right people to come along.

“It has been more than worth the wait, because they are heading off to the most incredible home where they’ll be loved, understood, and able to enjoy the life they truly deserve.

“We’ve absolutely loved caring for this special little family over the past year. While saying goodbye is always bittersweet, we couldn’t be happier knowing they’re starting this exciting new chapter together.
