Waitrose shoplifter sentenced after stealing ‘high value’ meat

A WAITROSE shoplifter has been sentenced after being caught stealing from the Malvern store.

Declan Wharton, 33, was caught by police less than an hour after he stole “high value” meat from the store on Edith Walk on Sunday, September 6.

He was arrested and charged, before appearing in court on Monday, September 7.

Wharton, of no fixed abode, had already been serving a suspended sentence, prompting magistrates to had down an immediate jail term.

The shoplifter was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison.
