A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has died following a crash on a Worcestershire road.
The teenager was a passenger in a blue Volkswagen Polo which left the A4104 between Defford and Dunstall, near Pershore, and hit a tree at about 9.20pm on Saturday, September 12.
Despite emergency services attending the scene, the boy suffered injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other teenage passengers, aged 16 and 17, escaped with minor injuries.
An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while over the drink and drug limits.
He has since been interviewed and released on bail while investigations continue.
Police have now launched an appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage as officers work to establish exactly what happened in the moments before the fatal collision.
Detective Sergeant Rose Hughes, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said her thoughts were with the teenager’s family and friends, who are being supported by specialist officers.
She said “Firstly, our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the boy who tragically lost his life yesterday.
“They are being supported by specialist officers and will be kept informed throughout the investigation process.
“We are now appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision, or the vehicle travelling prior to the incident taking place.
