Worcester runners stop mid-race for free Guinness as pub empties barrel in hours

Hundreds of runners took on the Worcester City Runs today, but some found an unusual way to refuel along the route.

The Foregate pub handed out free Guinness to participants during the event, with thirsty runners lapping up the black stuff.

Within two hours of the 10km race, The Foregate had gone through an entire barrel of Guinness.

Staff members held up signs outside the pub saying ‘Free Guinness’, ‘Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy’, and ‘Damm You’re Quick’.
