AN Italian deli and coffee shop is closing in the centre of Worcester after just over a year in the city.
Little Italy on Foregate Street is set to close – although an official date is yet to be announced.
First opened in August 25 in The Hop Market by Francesco Tripodi, the business was said to be ‘thriving’ earlier this year, although Mr Tripodi previously said ‘Rome was not built in one day’.
Talking with the Worcester News, Mr Tripodi confirmed that the shop would be closing and that he would say more about the closure in a couple of weeks.
Taking to Facebook yesterday (September 13), Mr Tripodi said: “It is with great regret that I inform you that Little Italy will unfortunately be closing its shop located at 16 The Foregate, WR1 3QD, Worcester.
“I therefore ask you to support a small business in any way you can during the short time remaining.
“Little Italy will return in the future—stronger than ever—but for the moment, I need to take a break to focus on my health.”

Moving from The Hopmarket to Foregate Street in January, Little Italy offers a range of authentic Italian products, including Italian cheeses, sausages, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, biscuits and more.
