PEOPLE from across Wyre Forest have congratulated a Worcestershire woman who gave birth to her very own ‘miracle baby’ after surviving a horrific car crash in Bewdley.
Sophie Price, who lives in Kidderminster, gave birth to her daughter Ruby on Sunday, September 8, eight years after she suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash that happened in 2018.
As a result of the incident, Sophie, who was a student at Kidderminster College at the time, suffered a broken nose, skull and eye socket fractures, a bleed on the brain, a collapsed lung, and a severed artery in her neck and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QE) in Birmingham.
Complications after an operation to repair the severed artery led to Sophie suffering a major stroke and needing further life-saving operations.
As part of her recovery from her extensive injuries, Sophie was forced to learn how to speak, eat and walk again.
After the birth of her daughter, Sophie’s step-dad Lee Mildenhall said that she wants to thank all the people who saved her life and made the birth of her daughter possible.

Lee also said that Sophie’s family are ‘overjoyed’ by the birth of Ruby, who they have described as a ‘miracle’.
He said: “Sophie would like to thank all the strangers, police, paramedics, air ambulance and the staff at the QE who made this possible by all pulling together back in 2018 to save her life.
“As a family, we are overjoyed that Sophie, who was a miracle IVF baby herself, has been given the chance of having her own miracle baby.”
After the Kidderminster Shuttle shared the news of Ruby’s birth, several readers were keen to congratulate Sophie and her fiancé Joshua on their ‘beautiful’ new arrival.
