A venue in Kidderminster has apologised after an event left audiences disappointed due to being “far from what was promised”.
Kidderminster Town Hall said it was “really saddened” after hosting the ‘One More Tune’ event on Saturday (September 12).
The venue, which has been praised for the more than 100 shows it has hosted since reopening last year, described the event as “appalling” and acknowledged it did not deliver what had been promised to paying crowds.
In a post on social media, Kidderminster Town Hall said: “Tonight (Saturday, September 12) we hosted ‘One More Tune’ at Kidderminster Town Hall. The concept from the promoter was a live band with karaoke, lyrics on our LED screen, and a huge party atmosphere. Sounds great, doesn’t it?
“What was delivered was far from what was promised. We are really saddened that after 100 shows in our first year of being reopen, we’ve hosted such a poor event.
“We’re a small, local, honest team, and we’ll be the first to publicly say this was appalling.
“We are still learning too, and tonight has taught us not to accept mediocrity.
“To those in attendance, please contact XFP for a full refund.”
Those in attendance praised the town hall for its honesty about the event with some describing how they thought it was just a break when the show ended after only an hour.
One person said: “We attended and were very disappointed. I hope this doesn’t affect your wonderful venue.”
Another person said: “Thank you for being so honest and sharing your frustration and confusion by the lacklustre event. I have already emailed my disappointment to the external organiser.”
Another person added: “What an honest approach for a venue – well done to you.”
The town hall has already hosted a range of impressive shows since reopening with plenty more lined up over the coming months, including the Ultimate 80s Party, An Evening with Sir Bradley Wiggins, New Dawn Fades – a play about Joy Division, Tom Meighan – the original voice of Kasabian, Del Amitri and more.
Those in attendance are being urged to contact organiser XFP for a full refund.
