A hair salon is celebrating nearly seven decades on the high street and a successful first year under new ownership.
Wicked Hair, High Street, is celebrating 68 years in business while its owners approach their first anniversary after taking over from the founding family
The salon first opened in 1958 as Jon’s, founded by Jon Wurmli. He became widely known across the city and remained linked with the business until his death in 2021.
It later became Wicked Hair and is now run by Helena Sinclair and Jade Merry. The pair are nearing 12 months since taking ownership, while continuing the salon’s work in the community.

Salon owners Helena Sinclair and Jade Merry said: “We are nearly a year into officially owning Wicked Hair and we’ve had a great year. Our team and clients have been very supportive, and we are grateful for that.
“We’ve introduced new incentives for our team. I think the one they love the most is that we all get the same Saturday off so we can finally have fun together.
“We will be hosting a one-year celebration party in November and supporting a charity close to one of our clients’ hearts for a very brave young lady… but all will be revealed soon.
“Thanks to everyone for their continuing support.”
