Firm shares how new product could prevent ‘catastrophic’ fires

A Worcester-based firm has launched a new battery storage system could help prevent catastrophic fires.

The Batt-Rack system, developed by Wickens Engineering, is designed for the safe storage of lithium-ion batteries, which are known to pose serious fire risks if damaged.

The company showcased the product at the NEC Birmingham on September 16 and 17.

Lois Taylor, marketing manager at Wickens Engineering, said: “It’s brilliant to see a product designed and built here in Worcester get this kind of reception on a national stage.

“It showed us just how many businesses up and down the country are dealing with a battery storage problem, and how much appetite there is a for a proper solution.”

Batt-Rack is purpose-built to store EV batteries, battery-powered tools, and machinery safely and compactly, featuring integrated cooling and fire protection.

It attracted steady interest from businesses across the UK and Europe.
