An acclaimed singer-songwriter with an “unmistakeable voice” is set to appear in Kidderminster.
Richard Hawley will be performing at Kidderminster Town Hall on December 15.
One of Britain’s most distinctive and celebrated artists, Richard Hawley has enjoyed a career spanning more than three decades both as a solo artist and through his work with Longpigs and Pulp.
Known for his unmistakable voice, atmospheric songwriting and beautifully crafted live shows, the Sheffield singer-songwriter has built an incredible catalogue of music and a reputation as one of the UK’s finest performers.
With people queuing at the box office from 10am on Friday (October 9), the launch brought excitement and anticipation to the Town Hall, demonstrating the appetite for seeing nationally acclaimed artists perform locally.
Curtis Fudge, Business Manager at Kidderminster Town Hall, said: “This show has been 12 months in the making. We got the green light three weeks ago, and we had a real ‘pinch me’ moment in the office.
“It’s arguably the biggest show in Kidderminster since the early ’60s, and we’re really proud to be hosting Richard.
“Despite regularly selling out events, this is the first show that has sold out on the day of release. With queues of people from 10am, it felt like a big occasion as we went on sale.”
Sadie Owen, Events Manager at Kidderminster Town Hall, added: “It’s going to be a memorable night for the town, and we can’t wait to welcome Richard. We’ve been working so hard behind the scenes to confirm this show, and it was a huge relief when we finally got the go-ahead.”
The sell-out follows a busy first year of programming for the Town Hall, with national touring artists, comedy, community events and live performances helping bring renewed energy to the historic building.
The response to Hawley’s announcement is a particularly meaningful milestone for the team, showing how strongly audiences have embraced the venue’s ambition and its growing programme.
December’s performance promises to be a memorable occasion for those who secured tickets, bringing one of Britain’s most respected songwriters to Kidderminster for an evening that is already generating excitement across the town.
