Nuisance rider couldn’t get motorbike to start when they tried to flee police

A RIDER couldn’t get their motorbike to start as they tried to flee police.

Officers had gone into King George’s Playing Fields on Brickfields Road after noticing two youths riding an off-road motorbike on the cricket pitches.

They attempted to flee when they saw officers approaching, but couldn’t get the bike to start.

The vehicle was seized and the youths, along with their parents, were spoken to about using off-road bikes in public areas.

“We know that the illegal and nuisance use of off-road bikes and other motor vehicles is an ongoing concern for local residents,” said PC Catrina Palmer, from the Gorse Hill and Rainbow Hill Safer Neighbourhood Team.

“As your Safer Neighbourhood Team, we will continue to tackle this issue through engagement and education, with enforcement action taken where necessary.”

Police said nuisance motorbikes had been highlighted as a concern by residents in the area.
