Search to crown the best pub out of 92 in MP’s constituency in final week

THE search to crown the best pub in an MP’s constituency has begun.

MP for Droitwich and Evesham Nigel Huddleston is encouraging residents to support their local pub as voting in his 2026 Constituency Pub of the Year competition enters its final week.

The contest, now in its second year, celebrates the vital role pubs play in communities across Droitwich, Evesham, and surrounding villages.

Nigel Huddleston MP said: “Our pubs are so much more than somewhere to go for a drink.

“They are at the heart of communities across Droitwich, Evesham, and our villages, bringing people together, supporting local jobs, and making a major contribution to our local economy.

“The fact that pubs and brewing support almost 1,600 jobs in the constituency and generate nearly £48 million for our local economy shows just how important the sector is.”

The competition highlights the social and economic impact of pubs and gives residents a chance to show their appreciation.

Mr Huddleston said: “I have been delighted to see local pubs getting involved in this year’s Pub of the Year competition, and I am extremely grateful to every pub that has taken part and every resident who has already voted.

“There is now just one week left to have your say, so if your local is participating, please get behind them and cast your vote.

“Running a pub is incredibly hard work, particularly with the pressures the hospitality sector is currently facing, so this competition is also an opportunity for us all to show just how much we value our local pubs and the people who run them.”

Pubs taking part in the competition are displaying official competition beer mats featuring a QR code, making it easy for customers to vote on the spot.

The competition also comes as new data highlights the economic value of the pub and brewing sector in the constituency.

According to research from Oxford Economics and the British Beer and Pub Association, the Droitwich and Evesham constituency is home to 92 pubs and three breweries, supporting 1,592 jobs and contributing £47.6 million in gross value added to the local economy.

Voting is open until Friday, October 30, with the winner to be announced shortly after.
