The reopening date for a much-loved pub in Bewdley has been confirmed after an almost £500,000 refurbishment.
JD Wetherspoon has confirmed it is refurbishing The George Hotel on Load Street, including a staffroom and kitchen upgrade.
The refurbishment is worth around £464,000.
A planning application was submitted and approved earlier this year with the work set to be “modest in scale” and largely confined to the bar of house cellars and operational bar zone.
The work is primarily maintenance, repair and services upgrades as well as minor alterations to existing fittings.
No extensions or alterations of the primary structure or principal historic spaces are proposed.
The pub is currently temporarily closed with the reopening date planned for Friday (November 27).
The plans will support the long-term “viable use of the building”
Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “We are looking to complete a repair and refurbishment scheme in Bewdley which will include a staffroom upgrade, dispense upgrade, kitchen upgrade, new carpet, bar repairs, flooring repairs and cellar repairs for £464k cost.”
The plan for the upgrade was approved on July 28.
