Beefeater restaurants to close in Worcestershire amid 3,800 Whitbread job losses

TWO Beefeater restaurants in Worcestershire are set to close as owner Whitbread makes plans to cut 3,800 jobs.

The company, which also owns Premier Inn, has announced the closure of every remaining Beefeater and Brewers Fayre in the UK as part of a five-year plan to save £250 million.

The closures will see the loss 197 locations and 3,800 jobs across the UK.

The two remaining Beefeaters in Worcestershire, in Evesham and Redditch, will both close, with no date set for when they will shut.

The location becoming integrated into the hotels, which is something Whitbread said guests prefer.

Dominic Paul, chief executive at Whitbread, said increased costs in the form of business rates and national insurance meant changes were needed.

Worcester’s Beefeater, near Sixways, was one of over 200 Whitbread restaurants to close or be sold in 2024, with plans for the former eatery to become more hotel rooms.
