Bird seen less than 100 times a year in the UK is spotted near Worcester

A BIRD that is seen less than 100 times a year in the UK has been spotted near Worcester.

The ring-necked duck was reportedly seen in Clifton, a small village just south of Kempsey.

According to the British Trust for Ornithology, the species is a “rare but regular” visitor to the UK from North America.

Ring-necked ducks are usually spotted in Britain in the winter, with 73 having been recorded in the country in 2021.

The bird can be identified by the brown collar across its black neck.
