Direct flights between Birmingham and Delhi have been suspended.
The Air India service, which operates three times a week, is being axed as part of the airline’s winter schedule changes.
This is due to a broader shake-up of its India-Europe operations.
A spokesperson for Birmingham Airport confirmed: “Flights to New Delhi will be suspended over winter”.
The suspension means there will be no direct flights between the West Midlands and the Indian capital during the busy winter period, before Christmas and India’s wedding season.
Booking through the platform for direct Birmingham-Delhi flights is no longer possible.
Aviation Week, a leading journal in the field of aviation, reports that the change is part of a wider reshaping of Air India’s European network, influenced by higher fuel costs and ongoing airspace limitations.
Amritsar connections remain in place from BHX
Sabre Market Intelligence data shows that Birmingham generated around 207,300 two-way passengers to and from India in 2025, down 8.3 per cent compared to the previous year.
Of those travellers, 53,600 were headed to or from Delhi, making it the second-largest city market after Amritsar, which accounted for 81,200 passengers.

The spokesperson for Birmingham Airport added that the airport still had a route to India. They said: “Amritsar connections remain in place from BHX.”
Air India’s Birmingham-Amritsar service will continue to operate throughout the winter, maintaining direct connectivity to northwest India.
Air India has also suspended its New Delhi to Vienna route for the winter season.
