A coffee shop at a nature reserve in Kidderminster is celebrating after being awarded a top hygiene rating.
Richard and Rani Davies only opened The Coffee Hut at Habberley Valley last month, but are already celebrating a five-star hygiene rating.
The couple launched Café R&R from a mobile coffee trailer last year, but started to hear stories from visitors about how they missed the old café at the nature reserve.
When the opportunity came up, they decided to open a permanent cafe at the site, which felt like a “natural next step” for the business.
Richard Davies said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have been awarded a five-star food hygiene rating.
“We’ve put a lot of work into getting The Coffee Hut up and running, and making sure everything behind the scenes is just as good as the coffee and food we serve.
“It’s a great way to start this new chapter, and we’re really proud of what we’ve created at Habberley Valley.”
The couple said it was important to have their hygiene standards recognised so early on in their journey with The Coffee Hut, and described the opening of the shop as “amazing”.
After the opening, the couple said: “It was fantastic to see so many new and familiar faces, and we’ve been genuinely overwhelmed by all the kind words, encouragement and support.
“We hope you enjoyed your coffees, treats and time with us at Habberley Valley Nature Reserve – we certainly loved welcoming you.
“This is only the beginning, and we’re really looking forward to seeing you all again soon. Thank you for being part of The Coffee Hut journey.”
The owners hope the café will become a “real part of the local community” and somewhere familiar and welcoming for walkers, families, dog owners and friends to come together and enjoy the beautiful site.
