A Worcester care home has expressed its disappointment with the outcome of a recent inspection, despite widespread praise from residents.
Regent Residential Care Home has received a rating of requiring improvement following its most recent CQC inspection.
The care home, on School Road, St Johns, was inspected on August 25 and 26.
While the inspectors found that the home should be rated good in the Effective, Safe, and Caring sections of the inspection, several areas of the care home were deemed to not be at that standard, including the home’s governance, management, and sustainability, which received the lowest score of 1.
The report stated: “The provider did not always have clear responsibilities, roles, systems of accountability or good governance.
“They did not always act on the best information about risk, performance and outcomes. We found a lack of detail in some clinical guidance and gaps in daily monitoring of care tasks.
“We discussed this with the deputy manager and some senior leaders of the service who told us they would review these processes and take action to make improvements.”

Inspectors spoke to residents and relatives about the care home, with the majority of them speaking positively about the home and staff.
The report said: “People and relatives told us staff were kind and caring. We saw time was taken to learn about people’s background and what hobbies and interests they had; this had been incorporated into some of the activity planning.
“People and relatives told us they felt safe and could approach either the staff or managers, if they had any concerns or complaints, and these would be listened to.”

A spokesperson for Sanctuary Care, which operates Regent Residential Care Home, said: “While we are pleased the home was rated as ‘good’ in three of the five categories, we are disappointed with the overall outcome of the inspection and are sorry that in some areas we have fallen short of the high standards we strive for.
“We have already made improvements to address the concerns raised by the CQC and can reassure our residents – and their families – that we remain absolutely committed to enriching lives and providing the very best care in all our homes.”
