A care home is opening its doors to the community for an afternoon of family fun and traditional chippy flavours.
Care UK’s Perry Manor, in Worcester, will host a food festival on Friday, August 7, as part of the nationwide ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative.
The event, taking place from 2pm to 4pm at the Charles Hastings Way care home, will offer visitors a taste of the British seaside with classic fish and chips, traditional games, and a magic show.
Katherine Matthews, home manager at Perry Manor, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting our very own food festival.
“We are part of a strong community here in Worcester, and days like this are a wonderful way of bringing people together to celebrate our love of food while giving residents the opportunity to share their favourite recipes and traditions with younger generations.
“The afternoon not only promises a lot of laughter, but it is also an excellent way for residents to meet and mingle with lots of new faces – and some familiar ones.
“We can’t wait to welcome everyone through the doors.”
Visitors can look forward to family-friendly entertainment including balloon animals and a classic hook-a-duck game.
Food on offer will include fish, chips, battered sausage, and mushy peas.
The ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative sees Care UK homes across the country host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Each event will offer sustainable, community-focused activities and food from residents’ favourite recipes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
Perry Manor provides residential, nursing, dementia, and short-term respite care and is rated ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission.
