Charities invited to apply for £20,000 Severn Trent grants

Charities and community groups are being invited to apply for grants of up to £20,000 to help fund their essential running costs.

Severn Trent has opened the latest round of its Community Fund, offering grants to help cover essential day-to-day costs and continue delivering vital services.

The Core Funding round opens to applications on November 2 and closes on November 30, giving eligible organisations one month to apply.

Natalie Cunningham, Severn Trent’s community fund manager, said: “Local charities and community groups play a vital role in bringing people together, supporting those in need and creating stronger communities.

“Yet many organisations are having to do more with less as financial pressures continue to grow.

“By providing dedicated funding, we’re helping groups cover essential running costs, support their volunteers and staff, and ensure they can continue making a real difference where it’s needed most.”

Charities and not-for-profit organisations can apply for restricted grants of between £5,000 and £20,000 to support core costs for one year.

Around 25 organisations from across the Severn Trent region are expected to benefit.

Recent beneficiaries in Worcestershire include West Mercia Search & Rescue, Vale of Evesham Community First Responders and STEPWAY.

Core costs cover the basic expenses needed to keep an organisation running, such as staffing, office rent and utilities, administration, fundraising, and governance.

The funding is intended for groups that provide essential services to residents, particularly those supporting vulnerable people, and require financial help to sustain their work.

Ms Cunningham said: “We know many households are continuing to face financial pressures, and local charities are often the first place people turn to for advice, support and practical help.

“That’s why our commitment to affordability goes hand in hand with our investment in community organisations, helping ensure people can access support both directly from Severn Trent and through trusted local groups.”
