City centre pub announces closing date for extensive refurbishment

A city centre pub is set to close temporarily for a major makeover.

The Talbot will shut on Monday (August 3) as a six-figure refurbishment gets underway.

The Barbourne Road pub will be updated with a new look and upgraded facilities.

A spokesperson for Greene King, the operators of the pub, said: “The Talbot will retain all its community character and provide customers with elevated experiences with the introduction of a range of modern comforts.

“The pub’s interior will be refreshed with stylish new décor, furniture and lighting, and the layout will be improved to ensure a dedicated sports zone with darts, pool and upgraded TV screens and sound systems showcasing the latest live fixtures on Sky Sports and TNT Sports.”

The outdoor beer garden will also see some big changes, with Greene King describing it as ‘the ultimate spot for sports viewing whilst enjoying alfresco drinks and dining’.

While no reopening date has been revealed, King Greene teased the pub will be back serving punters by the end of August.
