THE council has unveiled plans that it hopes will cut down the “crazy” queues at the tip in Worcester.
After calls for action, Worcestershire County Council has announced a booking system at Bilford Road Recycling Centre.
It follows multiple occasions earlier this year, when the centre had to temporarily close its gates after becoming too full.
In April, one Worcester News reader said the queues to get into the tip had been “crazy”.
Councillor Alex Mace, who represents St Stephen on Worcester City Council, also said at the time that queuing traffic become a “persistent issue” and called for investment into additional recycling centres.

How does the booking system work and when does it start?
The county council said advance booking will soon be required for visits on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.
The new system will allow people to book up to six visits within a 14 day period and bookings can be made up to two weeks in advance.
Some same day bookings may also be allowed.
Those who do not wish to use the booking system will be able to visit Tuesday to Friday.
The system is scheduled to go live on August 29 for bookings from September 12.

“We are listening to local concerns regarding traffic management around the Bilford Road site,” said Councillor Josh Robinson, cabinet member with responsibility for the environment at Worcestershire County Council
“We know that the site can become extremely busy at weekends and on Mondays, leading to long queues and delays for residents.
“The implementation of a booking system is designed to help manage demand, reduce congestion and make visits quicker and more convenient.”
