CROWDS in Kidderminster were delighted by the historic steam locomotives as part of Severn Valley Railway’s (SVR) Autumn Steam Gala.
The heritage railway’s Autumn Steam Gala took place between Thursday (September 17) and Sunday (September 20) and featured an impressive line-up of guest and home-fleet locomotives.

Visitors to the SVR Steam Gala were given the opportunity to see the historic locomotives and ride on trains between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth.
Joining the line-up of locomotives during the festival was the Ivatt Class 2 tank locomotive No. 41313, which appeared courtesy of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.
The visit marked several notable milestones, including the locomotive’s first-ever appearance at the Severn Valley Railway and the first visit by an Isle of Wight-based locomotive to the line.
SVR were also ‘pleased’ that the BR(W) Pannier Tank joined the Steam Gala’s line-up and paired up with SVR’s BT Pannier Tank 7714.

An SVR spokesperson said: “We are grateful to the Dean Forest Locomotive Group for the hire of their locomotive, and to Dean Forest Railway for making the locomotive available.”
The gala was also visited by the LMS ‘Royal Scot’ 46115 Scots Guardsman and GWR ‘2884’ 3850.
“We are incredibly grateful to West Coast Railways, the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway, and Dinmore Manor Locomotive Ltd for making the locomotives available at such short notice,” an SVR spokesperson said.
The ‘stars of the show’ at the SVR Autumn Steam Gala also included the GWR 813, GWR 4150, GWR 1450, GWR 7714, LMS 13268, and BR 75069.
On Sunday (September 20), crowds of enthusiasts gathered at Kidderminster station to get a glimpse of the historic locomotives.
