‘Dangerous driver’ flees from police as eyewitness sees ‘car chase in Worcester’

POLICE are still trying to find a “dangerous driver” and the car’s passengers after an extensive city search.

Helicopters had circled and a heavy police presence was between Warndon and Peopleton as West Mercia searched for the occupants of a car that was being driven dangerously.

The incident had initially started on Windermere Drive in Warndon where police received reports of a person driving dangerously.

It led to what eyewitnesses called a “car chase from Warndon to Peopleton” with stingers also being deployed on the road.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “At 12.30pm yesterday afternoon (April 19), we received reports of a person driving dangerously on Windermere Drive.

“The vehicle failed to stop for officers and was later located in Peopleton.

“An extensive search of the area was conducted by officers but the occupants of the vehicle could not be located.”

One eyewitness said two people had got out of a car and were being searched for by police.

She added: “Police helicopter had been out over Peopleton for hours looking for them, and as far as we know, the people are yet to be found.”

West Mercia Police confirmed enquiries to identify and locate the occupants are ongoing.
