A DETECTIVE is accused of asking a colleague to sign her son’s passport even though she did not know him.
Det Con Stephe Dyer allegedly “sought to apply pressure” and behaved in a way that was “dishonest and lacking in integrity.”
Det Con Dyer is due to appear before a two-day gross misconduct hearing at the start of next month.
The incident is said to have taken place in February 2025 and to have breached police standards of professional behaviour, namely ‘honesty and integrity’ and ‘discreditable conduct.’
The allegation as released by West Mercia Police reads: “DC Dyer sought to apply pressure to a colleague to certify a copy of her son’s passport, in circumstances where the colleague told DC Dyer she did not know him and was not prepared to sign it.
“It is alleged her behaviour towards a colleague was dishonest and lacking in integrity.”
If proven, the breach amounts to gross misconduct that would “justify dismissal”, according to a notice released by the force this week.
The public hearing will be chaired by Craig Holden and take place on September 8 and September 9, 2026.
It will be held at the force’s headquarters at Hindlip Hall in Worcestershire.
