Becky Hill was born in Bewdley in 1994 and is a household name in the UK pop and dance music scene, with an impressive 10.7 million monthly listeners on Spotify and an estimated net worth of £8.5 million.
Her song Lose Control currently has over one billion streams on Spotify, with other smash hits such as Remember, featuring David Guetta, Crazy What Love Can Do, and Disconnect all having hundreds of millions of streams.
Hill began making music at the age of 14 and started performing in a band called Shaking Trees, which was selected to perform at the Noztock Festival of Performing Arts.
Fast forward to 2012, and the Bewdley-born star in the making auditioned for the first series of The Voice UK, where, in her blind audition, her rendition of John Legend’s Ordinary People wowed judges Jessie J and will.i.am.
Hill progressed to the semi-final stage of the competition before being eliminated at the semi-final stage.
After appearing on The Voice UK, Hill would experience her musical breakthrough, providing vocals for and co-writing Wilkinson’s song Afterglow, which peaked at number eight on the UK Singles Chart in October 2013.
In 2014, Hill appeared on and co-wrote a vocal version of Oliver Heldens’ Gecko (Overdrive), with this track topping the UK Singles Chart in June, making the Bewdley star the first The Voice UK contestant to achieve a number one single.
Over the decade, Hill’s musical career would continue to flourish, with several smash hits, from solo tracks to features on hits from music icons such as Chase & Status, David Guetta, Little Mix, and RAYE.
In April 2021, Hill came out as queer on her Twitter account, saying ‘I’ve definitely felt uncomfortable branding myself as straight, or anything else for that matter, but queer seems to be the most fitting identity for who I am’.
In January 2022, she announced her engagement to her long-term boyfriend, with the couple getting married in September 2025.
In 2022, Hill performed at the closing ceremony of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 at Wembley Stadium.
