A family-run village butcher’s shop has been named as one of the best in the UK after scooping a major regional award.
Badsey Butchers, on Badsey High Street, has been serving the village since 1959, and won the Butcher of the Year (West Midlands) 2026 title at the My Local Awards.
Announcing the news on social media, the owners thanked customers for their support and said the award was a moment they would “remember for the rest of our lives”.
The post said: “You voted. You backed us. And you’ve given us a moment we’ll remember for the rest of our lives.
“Just over a year ago, we took over Badsey Butchers, an already much-loved village shop at the heart of the community. We knew how much it meant to people, and we put our hearts into taking it forward and making you proud.”
The business was nominated earlier this year, with owners describing how they had poured their hearts into the shop since taking it over, balancing early starts, long days and family life while building on the butcher’s long-standing reputation.
Reflecting on the win, they said: “Today, we’re absolutely bursting with pride, in our shop, our team and everything we’ve achieved together.
“Behind the shop and the posts, we’re a family putting everything we have into something we believe in. There are early starts, late nights and plenty of juggling with young children at home. Moments like this make us stop and realise just how far we’ve come.”

The owners also paid tribute to manager Dan and the wider team, thanking them for their hard work and dedication, while praising customers whose votes helped secure the award.
They added: “You’ve chosen our shop, told your friends about us, shared our posts and kept coming back. Then you took the time to vote for us. Knowing you wanted this for us is probably the most touching part of all.
“You’ve helped us build this, little by little, and we’ll never take that for granted.”
While celebrating the victory, the team said there is little time to rest as attention now turns to the busy festive season.
The post concluded: “We still have big hopes and dreams for Badsey Butchers. But today, we’re taking a breath, looking at our team and our shop, and letting ourselves say: ‘Look what we’ve achieved together.’
“Then it’s sleeves rolled up for Christmas.”
