FIREFIGHTERS have released fresh images of a large fire at a tip in Worcestershire.
Crews ‘worked tirelessly’ to put out the blaze at the Hill and Moor tip near Pinvin after a fire took hold on Thursday (July 23) evening.
Pictures released by Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service show firefighters standing on mounds of rubbish whilst working to put out the fire.
Posting on Facebook, staff at Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: “Over the past 24hrs our colleagues across the service and we have been working tirelessly to contain and stop a local tip fire.
“A massive joint effort to put a close to this incident within this time frame.
“At its peak, there were 4 pumping appliances, 2 water carriers and a HVP (High Volume Pump).”
Witnesses reported first seeing the fire at around 6.15pm.
Speaking yesterday (July 24), a Worcestershire County Council spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a fire at Hill and Moor landfill site yesterday evening.
“The fire brigade were on scene throughout the night. As of early this morning, the fire had been largely extinguished, apart from a few small smouldering pockets, which are under control.
“The Environment Agency has been notified, and a senior fire officer is expected on site later today to assess the situation and offer further advice if needed. The Household Waste Recycling Centre remains open.”
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service has been approached for further comment.
